Since quarantine started I’ve begun a new hobby, which is collecting vintage luxury clothes, handbags, and shoes to start building up an archive! I started it originally as a way to have a tangible reference point for reviews and critics, as well as examples for any fashion history videos in case they were ever needed! But as I started collecting these pieces, I realized that sharing the items with you guys and getting to talk about and showcase my archive, everyone can learn something, including myself! So today we discuss and look at Christopher John Roger’s “Wiggle” dress, that Rihanna wore to a Savage Beauty event in South Korea. I don’t own her actual dress, but I do think that as it’s a runway garment and worn by one of the top fashion muses of the 21st century it’s an important dress to have! It also allows us to have insights into CJR’s world of color and his technical skills. Then we discuss a Louis Vuitton by Richard Prince handbag that was the opening bag from Louis Vuitton’s Spring 2008 show by Marc Jacobs. We did a video about the show, and I initially purchased the bag to help explain more about Marc & Richard’s collaborative efforts. I have worn this Celine suit on the channel before, but seeing as how it’s from Michael Kors’ era working at Celine, I thought it was important to discuss. One of the most hated looks I’ve ever worn was a Kenneth Ize scarf stylied with a Scottish kilt, and today we’re taking an in-depth look at the scarf and the importance of aso oke weaving. The last piece wer talk about is a 1980s skirt suit by the legendary Thierry Mugler. Mugler reimgaiend the suit and runway shows in dramatic fashions that were instrumental of the style aesthetics of the 80s.
